Don't Make Resolutions, Make Realignment Your Goal for the New Year!

Every year, we start by making New Year's resolutions and setting goals for ourselves: we go to the gym to get fit, we stop eating junk food, we take up yoga to improve our mental health, we save up to go on a vacation, but in most cases, these resolutions fizzle out by mid-January and we get back to our old habits. So this year, why don't we try something different? Instead of making resolutions, we can focus on realignment. Realignment means making meaningful changes to our lives that align with our values, goals, and desires. So, let's forget about resolutions and instead focus on realignment to become the best version of ourselves.

1. Start by looking within yourself

The first step towards realignment is looking within yourself. Take some quiet time and listen to what your inner voice is telling you. What's important to you? What are your goals? What do you desire? Think about the things that make you happy, what drives you, what you enjoy doing, and what your passion is. Trust yourself and listen to your intuition. This will help you realign with who you are, what you want, and what makes you happy.

2. Identify your values

Your values are the guiding principles that determine how you live your life. Therefore, it's important to identify them to help you with realignment. Think about what you believe in, what is important to you, and what you stand for. Your values will help you in decision-making and ensure you are aligned with what you aspire to be.

3. Prioritize and let go

After you've identified your values and desires, you need to prioritize them. What is most important to you? What deserves your time and energy? What do you need to let go of? You'll need to reflect on the things and relationships that are holding you back and be willing to leave them behind. Let go of the things that no longer serve you and focus on the things that are important to your life.

4. Create a plan

Realignment requires a plan of action. You need to create a plan for yourself that will help you achieve your goals and align with your desires. Your plan should be SMART: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time-bound. Make a list of the action steps you need to take, and then break them down further. Focus on small steps and short-term goals initially to avoid overwhelming yourself. Keep yourself accountable for your progress by tracking your milestones, reflecting on your progress, and adapting when necessary.

5. Keep yourself motivated

Lastly, keep yourself motivated. It's easy to get motivated in the beginning, but what's important is maintaining that motivation to achieve the realignment you seek. Doing things that bring you joy, being surrounded by positive influences, visualizing yourself living your best life will all help to keep you motivated. Celebrate your achievements, no matter how small they may seem, and celebrate yourself for each small step you take.

Realignment is about discovering who you are, what you value, and what your desires are. It's about consciously choosing what's important to you so that you can live a more fulfilling life. Realignment should be a gradual process, and it requires patience, perseverance, and commitment. These practices are essential as you balance your business goals and personal life.
